Three American gas mask bags and one American gas mask were found in a shed at a residence in Veghel in September 2024. A boy, twelve years old in 1944, had taken these attributes home with him and always kept them until they were found by his descendants while clearing out the shed
On these gas mask bags a total of four names were found of American soldiers, who were in Veghel during operation “Market Garden” in September 1944

PVT Frederick William Seafler with service number 35135764
He was born JANUARY 14, 1914, in Big Chimney, West Virginia, USA.
He died October 19, 1994, in Huntington, West Virginia and was buried in his hometown.
His gas mask bag also bears the name George Lynn Root.
We don't understand why, since they served in different regiments......

He was born JULY 27, 1918, Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah, USA and he was killed in
action in Bastogne (Belgium) JANUARY 13, 1945

He was born JANUARY 14, 1923, Mount Hope, Grant, Wisconsin.
He died MAY 21, 1980 Crawford, Wisconsin, USA.
George L Root has lived in Prairie du Chien, USA.
He is buried: Boscobel Cemetery, Boscobel, Grant County, Wisconsin.
His gas mask bag also bears the name Frederick William Seafler .

Mervil Lee Skinner with service number was 34273021
He was born, MAY 20, 1907, McCalla, Jefferson County, Alabama, USA
He died JUNE 02, 1964, Memphis, Shelby County, Tennessee.
He is buried: Bryan Memorial Presbyterian Cemetery, Shelby County, Alabama
Also among the gas mask bags was a gas mask, but it is not known to whom this mask belonged.
